Dome of Stephen King (Albin Michel)

The new novel by Stephen King, Dome, has just appeared in French on 02 March. Split into two parts, the book published by Editions Albin Michel 1074 pages done in its original version. It was translated by William Olivier Desmond.

A small Maine town is cut off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. The army can not break open and food is scarce. Big Jim Rennie, a rotten politician, sees an opportunity to put the city under his thumb. A new social order established and organized resistance.

Clack. It could be the sound would have made my head coming into contact with this mysterious invisible Dome. Slap
. That's what I just take full pear reading the first pages of the first volume.
I occasionally an opportunity to exchange views with the authors of novels. Writers, magicians words, true conjurers. Prestigious , as they were called again during the Enlightenment.

And we always arrive at the same point when it comes to determining what constitutes the essence of a writer: he brings to life endearing characters, characters that will exist in his mind and in ours, and that it will inject enough of humanity to create a strong bond with his reader.
is the difference I think between a novelist and a writer.

Stephen King, as chief magician, has this ability, this gift. And the first image that comes to mind when reading the first pages of Dome, is that of a switch. There is a before and after an off position and a position there. And it is also rapid. You have the book in her hands off position. You read the first pages: one position. The light comes on, the characters come alive, in an almost instantaneous.

Clack. This is the sound of the switch which gives life to the characters of Stephen King. It is always fascinating. Slap
. Whenever you read one of his new novels, it makes me the same effect. Yet I am accused, it's been many years that the author gives me a regular appointment. It might end up thinking that strength, I end up being bored. Not even. Again, I approach this feverishly switch and a few seconds later, the magic happens.

Well I'll leave you, I must go see it happening under the dome ...
